So beautiful.
So treacherous.
Each droplet, each sheathed twig, shimmers,
As breezes nudge the branches.
Avalanches of ice from the roof
Jolt reminders of the danger.
Diamond-like sparkles, reflecting harsh sunshine,
Glint like mirror-shards,
As more ice cascades from the roof.
Ice covers unbroken snow on the hillside,
Reflecting sunshine still too bright for direct vision.
And then it’s gone.
Melted under the unyielding sunshine,
Warmed to life-giving running water,
Portending Spring;
But the beauty remains in memory,
To be looked at during the next heat-wave in July.
