Seasons, Summer, flowers

My heart leaps up when I behold
Wild flowers beside the road:
Purple, blue, and white and gold,
To warm our hearts before the cold
Encases all in stranglehold.

But when the sharpened blades appear
To guillotine the flowers fair.
Oh, then I cry.
